My friends and I affectionately call Dogwood Acres "Doggiewood." I've been taking Blu, my 8-year old Cairn Terrier there for the last 5-6 years and weather permitting; he is there 5 days a week! Blu is my buddy. He's like the child I never had and I am extremely particular about his care and how he is treated. Each day I travel 20 to 30 minutes (one-way) in the opposite direction of my home and work because I know he will be well taken care of by the entire staff. I found a daycare facility that is 5 minutes from my home and office, but I refuse to take Blu elsewhere! Dogwood Acres is the only place I can take Blu and not have him experience separation anxiety. Not only am I pleased with how well they take care of Blu, but they take EXCELLENT care of me too! I am always talking on my cell phone in my car during dropoffs and pickups and they will come out to my car and retrieve Blu! No, they do not offer valet service, but this is one example of how willing they are to go out of their way to make a customer happy with "knock your socks off service". I have visited Dogwood Acres at different times of the day. If I sensed that Blu was unhappy or mistreated, I would remove him immediately. I have referred every dog owner I know and I have never received a complaint from anyone! All I have to say is THANK YOU DOGWOOD ACRES FOR ALL THAT YOU DO FOR ME AND BLU. I found this kennel about 2-3 years ago when our original boarding kennel was not available. We made an appointment for a tour and were quite impressed! The staff was very helpful, friendly and courteous. The facilities and grounds clean and well kept. Since then we have left our dogs there a number of times and have been pleased with how happy they are when we pick them up. As an added bonus, they have a vet available should your pet need medical care and they are very good about keeping you informed about your pet's issues and progress!!! I strongly recommend Dogwood Acres as an excellent boarding facility for your pet! Judith E. |

Love, love, love Dogwood Acres Pet Retreat! We've been taking our 5-1/2 yr. old lab here since he was 4 months old. He goes at least 2x per week for doggie daycare and has boarded 2x every year for usually 10 days per visit. Not only does the entire staff love our pet, but it is clear to me that they love all pets who come thru their doors. Our lab starts wagging his tail every time I make the right into Dogwood's driveway, then bolts for the door to get "loves" from the staff! Whenever we pick him up from a boarding visit, he's clean, happy, and clearly been well cared for ... and happy to return in a couple of days for daycare. I have been in and out of Dogwood several times a week for over 5 years and have never seen a staff person be anything but cordial and happy to serve both the 2-legged and the 4-legged clients. I'm so grateful to have found Dogwood Acres for my precious pup ... I can't imagine another pet retreat anywhere that can hold a candle to what Kurt and Audrey have created here in Davidsonville. They and the entire staff should be very proud of what they have accomplished and continue to accomplish on a daily basis ... they make our pets "smile!" Jeanne T. Davidsonville, MD

I think our furry family member had more fun than we did on vacation! We are a family that never boards our beloved Shih Tzu. This vacation, we had to based on travel plans that did not accommodate our 10 year old furry family member. She seems to have loved the experience. She came home clean and happy. We were very impressed with Dogwood Acres - very clean, and very enthusiastic young staff members. We checked in every few days while gone and never felt like a bother. We will go back whenever the need arises without hesitation! J S.

Dogwood Acres is the best! Our Westie Moose has been going to doggie daycare there since she was about 8 months old, and boards about one weekend every 2-3 months. The staff at Dogwood Acres is caring, accommodating, and professional. They treat Moose as if she was their own, and I never worry while she is in their care. The facility is beautiful and clean. I took a tour of the facility before I boarded Moose for the first time, and was very impressed at all of the outdoor space, personalized schedules for each dog, and activities we could sign up for (Moose won the Thanksgiving pie eating contest!). The prices are comparable to other kennels in the area, and the value that you and your dog receive is above and beyond what you pay for. I used to feel guilty taking my dog to a kennel, but Moose has friends at Dogwood Acres, gets plenty of exercise, is well socialized and well cared for. If your dog needs his own food or medication while boarding, the staff is happy to accommodate. I really appreciate the "report card" you get when you pick up your dog after boarding so you know how they behaved while they were there. I was paying a dog walker to come to my home for a ½ hour a day to take my dog on a walk but one full day of doggie daycare is the same price, and so much better! After one day we were sold! When I pick Moose up she is settled, relaxed, and happy to have gotten to play all day. I am thrilled that Dogwood Acres is close enough to home that I can take my dog there regularly, and am so grateful for the staff for looking after her when I'm out of town. They are the BEST!
